  6. This README file describes some troubleshooting tips for PowerSCSI! (TM)-NEC 
  7. Version 1.0.

  10. Troubleshooting

  13. 1)    If you plan to install other drivers after you have installed
  14.     PowerSCSI! (TM), be sure that those drivers are not trying to 
  15.     control the same device that PowerSCSI! (TM) drivers control.  Also,
  16.     for CDROM users, make sure that the CDROM driver (FDCD.SYS) is the
  17.     last driver loaded in your CONFIG.SYS file.

  19. 2)    If you run PowerSCSI! under Windows, remove FDBIOS and install the
  20.     Windisk (FDSCSI) driver.  FDBIOS is recommended only for the DOS
  21.     environment.
  22.  
  23. 3)    If you experience problems loading FDBIOS when QEMM is loaded,
  24.     disable the Stealth feature of QEMM.
  25.  
  26. 4)    If you experience erratic mouse movements, use another COM port or
  27.     mouse port.  You may also try configuring your Future Domain SCSI
  28.     Controller to another IRQ.
  29.  
  30. 5)    If you are using SYTOS Plus with a Future Domain 7000EX SCSI
  31.     Controller, you must download a special version of the ASPIFCAM 
  32.     driver from Future Domain's BBS at (714) 253-0432.
  33.  
  34. 6)    On some computers, there are problems after exiting Windows if the
  35.     SCSI Controller is set to IRQ 15.  The problems are:
  36.  
  37.     - The floppy cannot be accessed and will report 'Abort, Retry, Fail'.
  38.     - If Windows has access to a Network, the system will crash when 
  39.       exiting Windows.
  40.  
  41.     Reconfiguring your SCSI Controller to another IRQ will alleviate
  42.     this problem.

  44. 7)    If you have multiple Future Domain SCSI Controllers and you wish to
  45.     enable WINDISK (FDSCSI) support on all fixed disks in the system, it
  46.     is required that all fixed disks be connected to the first SCSI
  47.     Controller seen by the system.
  48.  
  49. 8)    If you are unable to use IRQ 14 when WINDISK (FDSCSI) is loaded, add 
  50.     the following line to the [386 Enh] Section of the SYSTEM.INI file:

  52.         VirtualHDIrq = OFF
  53.  
  54. 9)    If you are using a Diamond Speed Star Graphics Adapter under Windows,
  55.     add the following lines to the [386 Enh] section of the SYSTEM.INI
  56.     file:

  58.         FDSCSIMessageMode = OFF
  59.         FCAMMessageMode = OFF
  60.  
  61. 10)    If you experience problems using Tape Backup programs when SMARTDRV
  62.     is loaded, disable caching on the drive that you're running the Tape
  63.     Backup software from, the drive you're backing up, and the drive
  64.     you're restoring to.
